PFCC Week 5 Wrap: Minus 11

by: Sugar (October 14, 2017)

PFCC Week 5 was another reminder of the harshness of the NFL. The parity that exists in the league, which always seems greater than most fans admit, was very apparent. It was a tough week for favorites and that was greatly reflected in an average score for the week of minus 11. That was the AVERAGE score. An 11 with a dash in front of it. That means about the half the field had a lower score!

Just because most of the field wasn't very good, certainly doesn't mean that no dirty-dawgers were very good. In fact, Brandon Bigelbach from Glasgow, MT was able to pick 11 of the 13 games correctly and blew the rest of the field away with a Week 5 score of 81 points. The next closest dawg was veteran Joel Veeneman with 55 points on a excellent 10-3 record. Great job, guys.

Brandon Bigelbach's Week 5 score was good enough to launch him into the #3 position overall, with 238 points. He trails the overall leader, Scott Baker, by 11 points and 2nd place Greg Waller by just 6 points. If we look just a little farther down the standings, we see an old friend (and dawg) Scott Carpenter in 13th place. Scott is the 2000 PFCC Champion and is just 42 points off the leading pace. Maybe Scott will return to glory in 2017?

In group play, veteran group Tulsa Twisters is leading the pack, powered by overall leader Scott Baker. TT has an average player score of 176.8 and leads 2nd place Harvey Crusaders by almost 8 points and another veteran group, Boomerbacks by a little over 5. Speaking of group play, all group changes (both CFCC and PFCC) must be made by the Week 7 PFCC deadline. Once the deadline passes, no additions or substractions can be made to groups for the remainder of the season. If you want to dump some dead weight, just send the dd directors an email.

Of course, Week 6 PFCC is immediately on deck, so enjoy the football weekend and good luck with Week 6! Let's do better than minus 11.
