PFCC Week 17 Wrap and Super Blowout

by: Sugar (Jan 5, 2015)

Let me be the last person to wish you Happy New Year 2015. Busy times at dirty-dawg World HQ with the first ever Bowl Blowout format change for the College Football National Championship Playoff and the final week of the NFL and first round of the playoffs. It may not seem like such a big deal to all of you, but all of these changes means that we have to contact our old programmers who used to work for free to fix our stuff. That takes time and money. Anyhow, let's take a look at how far we have come this season...

So, let's look back at Week 17 of the PFCC where Michael Orosco pulled off a perfect 15-0 round to take home the Week 17 honors. Mark Tew was almost as good, missing just one game on a 116-point weekend. Great job dawgs! With the regular season in the books, Mr. Brown continued to enjoy a sizable lead over the rest of his dirty-dawg competition. Mr. Brown had 1055 points heading into the Super Bowl Blowout, 46 points ahead of dirty-dawg veteran, Clay Weir. Bob Fogarty was third overall with 987 points, Gary Petti fourth, with 981, and Jack Settelmaier was fifth with 980. Soggy Bottom Boys led Group Play heading into the playoffs with a 0.4 point margin over You Said Watt? ISIS was in third place. It was a long 17 weeks, so congratulations to everyone above and to all of you that were able to get in 17 weeks of picks without missing a week (or crying about it to the dirty-dawg directors!).

The only change to the Top 5 players after the Wildcard Round (Round 1) of the PFCC Super Bowl Blowout as Mr. Petti and Mr. Settelmaier switching places. Otherwise, Mr. Brown maintains a 44 point lead over Clay Weir and a 65 point lead over Bob Fogarty. For the Blowout itself, 2005 runner-up Lee Crowley is the early leader with 37 points, followed by Barb Mayes Boustead, Tim Garner, Andy Patrick and Scott Sharp. Soggy Bottom Boys has extended their Group Play lead to a whopping 1.2 points over You Said Watt? and ISIS remains in 3rd place.

As we head into the later rounds, the confidence points start getting multiplied and the men (women) get separated from the boys (girls). Round 3 confidence points get multiplied by 5 and and Round 4 get multiplied by 10. The only players in the Top 10 that don’t have Seattle as their Super Bowl champion is Clay Weir (Green Bay) and Brandon Dunstan (New England). So, those dawgs have the best shot at Mr. Brown, it would seem, although Mr. Brown is a crafty one with 11 on the Pats and 10 on the Pack. If some other team were to win the whole thing, that could shake up the standings. Time will tell. In any event, with no more deadlines the rest of the season, just sit back and enjoy the rest of the playoffs. In the meantime, we will be putting the final touches on the dirty-dawg Super Bowl commercial for this year. Our accounting department has indicated that we are only $4 Million short for our 30 second promo, so if any of you would like to help out with that, please drop us an email. Good luck the rest of the way.
