BAS On Hold/Boomerbacks Destroying PFCC Groups

by: Sugar (October 28, 2025)

Nine weeks into the CFCC books and it's clear that one of the most consistently good teams so far this college football season has been the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies, after knocking off Notre Dame by a point in Week 3 have been on a roll. Other than a close call against Arkansas, Texas A&M has been on an SEC war path and just dismantled LSU AT LSU AT night! When couldn't believe all of the LSU Tigers heading for the exits in the 3rd Quarter. The beat-down was so unbearable to LSU that they canned Brian Kelly first thing Sunday morning. When is the last time the A&M football team was responsible for anything close to that? Now, probably all of my Aggie friends wish I wouldn't write these things out loud. All of them suffer from an affliction known as Battered Aggie Syndrome or BAS. Well, I'm here to tell you Aggie friends, with 4 games to go, toughest of which will be against Missouri and Texas, along with South Carolina and easy-win Samford, it's going to be really, really, really hard for Texas A&M to miss the CFP this year! There, I typed it! If I'm wrong, I will never write anything positive about Aggieland again.

The other consistent butt kicking that has been going on has been at the hands of group Boomerbacks in the PFCC. Boomerbacks are always a powerhouse and, although we don't keep group records, they have won the PFCC Group Play a time or two (or likely more). This season, they are putting on an absolute clinic and making a mockery of the whole contest. Boomerbacks currently holds a 51.18 point lead over No Mistakes near this Great Lake. That's an average score, mind you. So, we here at dirty-dawg aren't sure what kind of collapse the Boomers would have to experience to lose this thing, but I guess you never know. Each week they increase their lead. After PFCC Week 8, all 8 players are in the Top 45 with 4 of them in the Top 6. Crazy good!

Okay, so let's take a look at the nitty-gritty in the CFCC for Week 9. The average score was 60.4 and a player that goes by the name "T Dub" from Hampton, Tennessee drove the weekly bus with a stellar 14-1 record getting tripped up only on Arizona State during the last game on the ticket. Rusty Painter from Jeckinsburg, GA was 2nd with 110 points on 13 wins (picked Northwestern and Illinois) and Chris McKinney from Bedford, TX was third with 102 points on 14 wins, dropping his 9 confidence on the Sun Devils. Linda English of Louisville, KY is our new leader with 620 points and an overall record of 97-38. Fun fact: Linda was in 204th place after Week 1 but has been in the Top 3 since Week 6. Linda holds an 8 point lead over Gary Petti from Weeki Wachee, FL and 12 points over Jeremy Buckles from Strawberry Plains, TN. Weeki Wachee and Strawberry Plains. Sounds like an awesome rock group name! For CFCC Group Play, another perennial powerhouse, The Florida Dummies - Legacy holds a 1.2 point lead over The Border War Still Live in KC and almost 10 points over Stratus-Fraction Guaranteed.

Over on the senior circuit, Nick Hampshire continues to pace the field with 548 points on an 84-28 record. He is currently holding off two of the Overton clan, Teddy and Jeffrey from Boomerbacks, with a 5 and 8 point lead respectively. Deb Bulloch is 4th and the 2017 runner-up Linda Kunches occupies 5th. And the winner of Week 8 PFCC is a dawger who has been with us since we were playing this contest on paper in 1990, Don Baker, from Platte City, MO! Don's player ID in the dirty-dawg database is 21, if that tells you anything? Don went 10-2 for Week 8, good for 86 points.Don's miscues were The Falcons and The Bengals. Steve Listemaa, a currently unpaid NWS employee (like many others in this contest) from Newnan, GA was the Week 8 runner-up while another zero paycheck guy, John Schmidt, was 3rd for the week also with 82 points but 9 wins compared to Steve's 10. Mr. Schmidt got a shout-out last week for his CFCC performance. This must be his 10 minutes of fame, or something like that. He would probably rather get paid than a worthless mention in this column!

Okay, October football is now in the books as we move on to November and the fall-back to standard time. Thus, the Week 10 CFCC games are due at 11 AM Central DAYLIGHT Time on Saturday, while the PFCC Week 9 game form is due at 12 Noon Central STANDARD Time on Sunday. So, you get an extra hour this week to submit your PFCC brilliance, so don't screw the pooch! Good luck this week and thanks for playing dirty-dawg.com!
