CFCC Week 3 Wrap: A Tough Week on the Job

by: exRegionalWeenie September 18, 2017

Admit it. When you first opened the pick sheet for Week 3, you noticed only two games with very low point spreads (3 points or less) but one-third of the games had spreads of 9 and 1/2 or greater. We'll be taking candy from a baby this week! The truth is, we thought so, too. But for the first time in three weeks, the NCAA football gods gave us a week of chaos and upsets as 8 favored teams lost. Ouch. And it would have been much worse if 16-point favorite USC didn't edge upset-minded Texas in overtime and if Florida didn't land a lucky Hail Mary to beat Tennessee as time expired.

Speaking of the Vols and Gators, let's check the game-ending reaction of Jethro Nation:
just no
Say it ain't so, Jethro.

just no
Jethro Nation rockin' the U.T checkboard bibs. Ugh.

Week 3 Player Results
Lubbock, TX's Joe Merchant took home the honors this week with 74 points on a 12-3 record. That's more than 4 times the average score which was a very poor 17! Joe beat Las Vegas, NV's Ashley Allen by 6 points. Bob Fogarty from San Antonio, TX, took third place with 62 points. Another Lubbock, TX, resident (Dale Ganus), a long time DD veteran was in fourth place with a 60 while Peachtree City, GA's Andrew Schmidt claimed fifth place after scoring 56 points for the week.

Year-to-Date Standings: A New Leader
Joe Merchant's big week propelled him into first place with 222 points so far this season. Two players are tied for second place - Germantown, TN's Andrew Sniezak and last week's leader Zach Sefcovic both have 199 points. Michael Orosco of Colorado Springs, CO, is in fourth place overall with fifth place held by Andrew Schmidt.

Movers and Shakers
This week's biggest mover rocketed upward 240 places! The honor goes to the previously mentioned Dale Ganus. Although some people refer to Dale as "Anus with a G" we here at DD will never do that. Nope, never. Salt Lake's Monica Traphagan was the only other player to leap at least 200 places in the standings. She went up by 207 and helped prove yet again that the Women of Dirty Dawg ROCK!

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, sooooo... two players fell almost 200 places. This includes Greg Waller and Dewayne Humphrey. C'mon, dudes, you're better than that!

Group Standings
The Harvey Rebels jumped into the lead in the Group Standings. They're ahead by about 2 points over Dawgzilla. Not so good for the former leader, though, as the BoomerBacks boomed back down to 3rd place.
