PFCC Week 12: Thanksgiving Thud

by: exRegionalWeenie

Thanksgiving Day started with a thud for the Philadelphia Eagles when they lost to the last place Detroit Lions 45-17. The Lions' victory wasn't a surprise (over 80% of you picked them) but I doubt anyone envisioned such a beatdown. Philly Coach/GM Chip Kelly jettisoned many of his stars the past two years. Let's check in on Kelly's accomplishments:

Everything Chip Kelly touches turns to poop.

Thanksgiving Day ended in a thud for most of us when the Chicago Bears beat the Packers at Lambeau for the first time in forever. Just 6 of 274 players anticipated that one while most of the rest of us lost double digits on The Pack. Don't worry, though - we had some famous company.

Tom
Uh oh, Tom lost his 15 on Green Bay, too.

Poor Tom. Just three days after he blew his 15 game in dirty-dawg, the Patriots lost their shot at an undefeated season in a snowy Sunday Night Football overtime thriller in Denver. Week 12 ended the next night when an on-paper crappy matchup between Cleveland and Baltimore ended with a "Kick 6" victory by the Ravens as the Browns attempted a game-winning field goal. That was the Browns losing in a very Browns-like way.

Random Thoughts
- Despite being 5-6, the Redskins are in first place. The Skins are in first place.
- St. Louis Rams Coach Jeff Fisher said we can kiss his (arse) if we question his players' effort. Hey coach, you got boat-raced 31-7 by the Bengals, you have a 4-game losing streak and you haven't scored more that 18 points in a month. So either your players aren't efforting... or they stink. Or both.
- How in the world did the 9-3 Arizona Cardinals need a late TD to squeeze past the lowly SF 49ers, 19-13?

Week 12 Results
Mark Plate of Tulsa, OK, nailed Top Honors in Week 12 with 86 points. The Bears' upset of the Packers propelled Mark as he had a 1 of Chicago while many of us had double digits on The Pack. Idaho's Dan Valle (84) and Colorado's Joe Kunches (82) were close behind in second and third place. Robert Banks and Robert Long rounded out the week's Top 5.

Overall Year-to-Date Standings
Here's a statistical oddity: everyone in the previous Top 5 overall standings moved up exactly one notch except for the previous leader (Caiden Orosco fell two places). Our brand new overall leader is veteran dirty-dawger Jon Zeitler of New Braunfels, TX. Jon has a slim 5 point lead over Mary C. Embry. Caiden is now in third place and followed by Steven Tensfeldt and John "Don't ask why they call me Gusty" Holsenbeck.

Group Standings
I have no friends and wasn't asked to be in a dirty-dawg group, so I could have blown off this section of The Wrap. However, it's worth noting that the Tulsa Twisters are in first place with a less-than-two-point lead over Tebow's Quarterback Camp. The remaining teams are WAY behind (more than 30 points) so I won't waste your time naming them here.

Looking Ahead
The college regular season is done but there's still plenty of NFL action to go. Week 13 features the Cardinals returning to St. Louis, the two NYC-area teams going head-to-head and a potential record low-setting TV rating matchup when Jacksonville faces Tennessee. With any luck, maybe the PFCC average score will be above zero this week.
