Diegan Wins CFCC Week 2

by: Sugar (September 9, 2025)

As stated in this column last week, it appears the weeks of a bunch of 120 scores early in the CFCC are definitely over. Week 2 was brutal on the field with several upsets producing an average player score of an embarrassing 32 points. I mean, us directors are embarrassed and most of you should be too! Florida loses to South Florida. Kansas State loses to Army, which lost to Tarleton State the week before. Arizona State loses and Virginia Tech loses for the 2nd week in a row. We love Virginia Tech screwing dirty-dawgers so much, we have them on the Week 3 form against Old Dominion. They won't lose 3 weeks in a row, will they?

As always, though, many dirty-dawgers made some great calls for Week 2. None were better than Allan Diegan from Paducah, Kentucky who went 12-3 and scored 80 points to take home the Week 2 trophy (like there really is one). Allan missed 13 on Florida like the rest of us, but only dropped 6 on Boston College and, in his best call of the week, only had 1 on KSU, which was 11 confidence points lower than the all-member consensus on that game. Nice work, Mr. Diegan!

The best record for the week goes to Jeremy Buckles from Strawberry Plains, Tennessee (is that a real place??). Jeremy went a stellar 13-2, but took two double-digit dings with 12 on Florida and 13 on K-State. Ouch! Despite the 25 point hit, Jeremy was up one spot into the overall leader position with 168 points after 2 weeks of play. Ian McNeil was up 12 spots to #2, with Mike Borden, Gunner Driver (that can't be his real name?) and Eric Forinash rounding out the Top 5.

In Group Play, Padookie Possum Trotters have taken over the lead with a small cushion on last week's leaders, The Border War Still Lives in KC. West Coast Walk Off, perennial powerhouse and defending Group Champion Bucknutz and the Know Nothings occupy the rest of the Top 5.

We have some great match-ups on the form for Week 3, besides the much anticipated Va Tech/Old Dominion game. Wisconsin goes into The House that Saban Built, Georgia invades Knoxville, South Florida goes to the Convicts, Arkansas and Ole Miss tangle, while Texas A&M takes on the Catholics in South Bend. Sounds like another low confidence week! As always, the game form closes at 11 AM CDT on Saturday, so don't snooze and lose.

A quick programming note: we had to make some changes to our scoring routine for players within each group. Due to this change, some players that are members of groups are not showing up in the group standings. If this happens to you or any of your group members, just shoot us an email and we will get that fixed up for you. You can continue to create groups, drop players (again with an email to us) or add players through Week 7. Good luck with Week 3.
