PFCC Week 7 Wrap: Mottice Walks Out of the Wreck With 63

By: Sugar (2026-10-27)

PFCC Week 7 is in the books, and if you are still looking for your points, check under the couch. The field averaged 12.9. Not 12.9 per game. Per player. For the whole week.

Somebody out there posted a minus 57. We won't name him here, but he knows, his wife knows, and his bookie probably knows too.

Cory Mottice Survives the Wreckage

Cory Mottice took Week 7 honors with 63 points, which in a normal week is a nice Sunday and in this week is a small miracle. Jim Sullivan of Macedonia, OH was the runner-up at 55, and Anthony Cavallucci grabbed third with 53.

Sullivan and Cavallucci did not just cash the week, they cashed the season. Cavallucci jumped 64 spots, from 144 all the way to 80. Sullivan moved up 62 to land at 35. Walter Kolczynski matched that 62-spot climb from 113 to 51, and Preston Naden picked up 51 to sit at 73. When the field drives into a ditch, all you have to do is stay on the road.

About That Ditch

Let's go through the damage, because it deserves a proper viewing.

96% of the field had Houston. The Giants won. 93% had Carolina. Tampa Bay won. 92% had the Jets. Miami won. 91% had San Francisco. Atlanta won.

Four games, four near-unanimous field opinions, four losses. That is not bad luck, that is the entire room walking into the same screen door one after another. And every one of those was somebody's big number, because that is how confidence pools work. You don't put 3 points on a game you are 96% sure of.

The handful of games that did behave were the ones nobody made money on. Minnesota over Indianapolis at 98% of the field. Denver over Arizona at 92%. Pittsburgh over New Orleans at 78%, Cleveland over Tennessee at 73%, the Rams over Las Vegas at 73%, Detroit over Green Bay at 81%. Thanks for showing up, boys, but chalk hitting at 92% doesn't dig anybody out.

Two actual bright spots for the brave: 87% of you had Dallas over Philadelphia and got paid, and Seattle over Kansas City came in for the 48% who went against the grain in a true coin-flip game. Cincinnati over Baltimore at 63% was also a nice little earner for anybody who rode it hard.

Meffert Takes the Wheel

Our new overall leader after seven weeks is Ashlyn Meffert of Owensboro, KY with 370 points, built on a 65-33 record. She's got 18 on Nick Greenawalt (352, 62-36) and 24 on Ashley Warthen of Salt Lake City (346, 63-35).

And 26 back in fourth is another Meffert. Tammy, out of Louisville, KY, sitting at 344 with a 63-35 mark. Family business.

We went digging in the bios for scouting reports and came up mostly empty. All we know is Ashlyn loves the Bengals and hates the Chiefs, and Tammy apparently likes cats. Given that Cincinnati beat Baltimore and Seattle beat Kansas City this week, Ashlyn had herself a Sunday.

Behind them, Chris McKinney has a field-best 67-31 record for 340 points, and Steve Beaver is right there at 338 off a 66-32. Those two are winning more games than anybody and still looking up at the leaderboard, which is the oldest story in this pool. Picking winners is half of it. Knowing which ones to believe in is the other half.

The Fall Guys

Desiree Meadows went from 25th to 132nd. That is a 107-spot slide in one weekend, and honestly it takes some doing. Michael Jurewicz dropped 73 to fall from 20th to 93rd. Albert Greenhut lost 68 to sit at 170, and Tim Doggett shed 54 down to 171.

Chin up. It was that kind of week for most of the room. The difference between the climbers and the droppers was about four games, and nobody in this pool saw all four coming.

Group Play

Padookie Quack Attack keeps right on rolling at a 282.25 average, and they posted the top team average for Week 7 on top of it. PQA leads The Lake Erie Therapy Session by 10.25 and BoomerBacks by 15.44.

Lake Erie Therapy Session, by the way, may need to book a few extra sessions after this weekend. Just a thought.

Week 8

Good news. No rogue games over in Europe this weekend, so everybody gets a clean slate and a normal schedule for once.

Deadline for PFCC Week 8 is Sunday at Noon, central STANDARD time. Get them in early, and maybe this week, when 96% of the field agrees on something, take a long look at the other 4%.
