Week 5 PFCC Wrap: A Tie Pays Everybody, London Pays Nobody

By: Sugar (2026-10-13)

PFCC Week 5 is in the books, and if your Sunday ended with you staring at the Giants-Washington box score wondering what a tie does to a confidence pool, welcome to the club. The answer, mercifully, is that everybody got paid. Every single dirty-dawger banked those points, whether you had the 66% lean to Washington or you were one of the 34% riding the Giants.

Credit where it's due: Jayden Daniels had the football deep in Giants territory in overtime after a Cam Skattebo fumble, which is roughly the football equivalent of being handed the keys and the car and the gas money. What followed was a clock-management clinic in the way a grease fire is a cooking clinic. Tie game. Points for all. You're welcome, field.

The Games That Hurt

Three results did most of the damage this week, and you know exactly which ones.

Green Bay over Chicago. The field was 71% on the Bears and the field was wrong, as the field often is when it convinces itself this is finally the year. San Francisco over Seattle burned the 72% that went Seahawks. And Baltimore over Atlanta stung the 70% on the Falcons, which brings us to the man of the hour.

Snoop Huntley. Who? Exactly. Lamar Jackson sits, Snoop plays, Ravens win, and 70% of this contest is left explaining to the spouse why the laptop went across the kitchen. If you had Baltimore, you didn't pick Baltimore so much as you picked the color purple and got lucky.

Buffalo over the Rams got another 66% of the room. Cleveland-Jets was the coin flip it looked like, 52-48, and the Jets took it. On the other end, Houston over Tennessee (98%) and Cincinnati over Miami (98%) went exactly as advertised, and the 2% who zagged on those two have some soul searching to do. Jacksonville over Philadelphia came in at 92% for the Jags, so that one was chalk even if it didn't feel like it in August.

As for ChatGPT vs. Excel Spreadsheet, 70% of you backed the spreadsheet. Good. Some traditions are worth keeping.

London Calling, Again

And then there's the early kickoff from across the pond, which the dirty-dawg directors hate with every ounce of this contest. Another Sunday, another batch of members who forgot, didn't know, or simply could not pry themselves out of bed in time. The leaderboard tells the tale.

Lori Orosco went from 21st to 137th, a 116-spot cliff dive. Sam Binau did the exact same thing, 20th to 136th, also minus-116. Blake Burleson dropped 109 spots to 149th and Tom Dang fell 88 to 111th. That's four players who were in good shape Saturday night and in witness protection by Sunday dinner. Set an alarm. Set two.

Week 5 Weekly Winner

The average all-member score was 60.9, which is a perfectly respectable week in a contest that just handed out free points for a tie. Meanwhile the Top 25 players going into Week 5 averaged 78.5 and the Top 10 averaged 76.6. That is not a coincidence. That is why they're the Top 25 and the Top 10.

Stephen Moran took the week with 107 points on an 11-2 record. Clean, boring, lethal.

Runner-up was Mark Tschudi of Longmont, CO with 101, and his only real wound was the 49ers walking into Seattle and taking it. Mark also climbed 64 spots on the season, from 80th all the way to 16th. Mark spells out his strategy in his profile quote:

If something is hard to do it's not worth doing.

That's a Homer Simpson coozy quote, and for the newcomers, yes, Homer is a dirty-dawger in good standing.

New Boss on the Overall Board

We have a new leader. Nick Greenawalt sits on top with 302 points and a 47-25 record. Nick finished third last year, which means he knows the walk and he means business this time.

Stephen Moran is second at 290 (50-22), twelve back, and he's got the best raw record in the top six. Ashlyn Meffert of Owensboro, KY is third at 288 (47-25) after climbing 16 spots from Week 4. Then it's Daniel Luyk at 282 (48-24), Ashley Warthen at 280 (46-26) and Charles Thomas at 278 (48-24).

Other big movers: Kevin Fitzgerald jumped 65 spots from 103rd to 38th, the week's biggest climb.

Tammy Meffert went 76th to 14th, up 62. Gregory Meffert climbed 61 to 67th. The Meffert family is apparently running a cartel and we're all just living in it.

The Great Lakes Conspiracy

Padookie Quack Attack was the top group in Week 5 again, averaging 70.50 points, and they hold

the overall group lead by 1.17 over upstart The Lake Erie Therapy Session and 3.06 over perennial powerhouse BoomerBacks. Georgian Bay Connection sits 4th, just 7.50 back.

Lake Erie. Georgian Bay. Two of the top four named after bodies of water in the same system. We're not saying there's a Great Lakes conspiracy. We're saying somebody should check the water.
