Samuel "Kruses" through Calibration Week

PFCC Week 2 is usually "calibration week" for the field and that was certainly the case with the 2026 edition. No fewer than 5 favorites, two of them double-digit consensus favorites, took a dirty-dawg dump all over the PFCC field resulting in a pathetic average score of just 29.3 points. Oh, the humanity! The Vikings, Bengals, Saints, Browns and Raiders all pulled off upsets. The most egregious wound was New Orleans' upset of the 11.9 consensus Baltimore Ravens, which cost the field 2563 points! And close behind was another 2504 point bleeder at the hands of Cleveland (yes, Cleveland) which took down the 11.7 consensus favorite Bucs. Only Jack Herty (Saints) and Cory Mottice (Browns) were brave and savvy enough to pick the winners of those games correctly. The Chargers got in on the act as well, losing to Vegas as 8.3 consensus faves. Maybe the Chargers really just aren't a good team this year? Or at least not right now, anyhow.

Despite the dismal overall effort for Week 2, there are always exceptions. This week the #1 exception was Charles Thomas, from Saint Clair, PA who was able to cobble together 76 points with a 10-5 record. Dan Berc, from Las Vegas, went 12-3, but finished as runner-up with 70 points. Charles' largest loss was 8 on Tampa Bay, while Dan jettisoned 14 on the Ravens and his 7 on Baker's Boys. Nathan Rick also scored 70 points with 11 wins to take third place.  Charles gets the winner's podium for Week 2 and had the following to say: "". Maybe he is the strong/silent type? Anyhow, good scoring on a tough week, dawgs!

In 4th place for Week 2 was Samuel Kruse, with 68 points and a 10-5 record. Why do we care about 4th place? Because that 68 points propelled Samuel 6 spots into the overall lead! Desiree Meadows, who plays from Cordova, Tennessee and was the 2022 PFCC third place bone earner is now in 2nd place, up one spot and weekly winner Charles Thomas was up a crazy 96 places after his 76 point week. Other notable movers for Week 2 were the aforementioned Dan Berc, up 157 spots, Noah Montoya up 134 and Cory Mottice up 111. The Top Dawg picks of the week go to the Herty/Mottice picks mentioned above, both of which were over 9 standard deviations from the consensus! On the flip side was Danielle Sanchez's 2 on Miami, which takes home the largest dawg-Pile pick for Week 2. 

Tony's Barefoot OWIes took over the group leader spot after Week 2 with an average player score of 94.71, up 31.71 points for the week. Less than 10 points separates the OWIes

from group places 2-6, including 5th place Padookie Quack Attack which finished with the highest average player score in group play for Week 2 with 33.75 points. 

The PFCC Week 3 game form is ready for action with a full 15 game Sunday/Monday set, including a tilt in Rio De Janeiro between the Ravens and Cowboys. Despite the International Series game, the deadline remains Noon CDT on Sunday, September 27.
