Tina Fausey takes home PFCC Gold; Hailraisers Top Group

by: Sugar (February 14, 2018)

Let's kick off the PFCC 2017 wrap-up with a fun dirty-dawg fact. Just a little under 10% of dirty-dawgers are of the fairer sex. However, after the ladies took 2 out of the 3 top CFCC positions for 2017, two more take home bones in the PFCC. Veteran Tina Fausey, from Dillsburg, PA is our 2017 PFCC Champion, followed by runner-up Linda Kunches from Niwot, CO. Great job, ladies! For those of you keeping score at home, that's 4 out of 6 bones for the women in 2017!

Tina has played dirty-dawg since any of us can remember and she finally strikes gold in 2017. She was in 2nd place after 17 weeks of PFCC play, but scored 223 points for the Super Bowl Blowout to take the championship. Tina had a stellar record of 163-75. And Tina, even though she is from Pennsylvania, actually had 12 on New England and only 7 on Philly, yet she still pulled off the trophy. Great job, Tina. You will forever live in the annals of dirty-dawg history.

Linda Kunches moved from 6th place to the runner-up position after the Super Bowl Blowout and finished with 1219 points, just 2 points off the championship pace. Linda knocked down 248 bowl blowout points. Another dirty-dawg veteran and perennial powerhouse, John Leibold, from Fenton, Michigan, scored 284 blowout points to jump from 25th place after the regular season all the way into 3rd place, to add the 2017 Bronze Bone to his 2013 Bronze Bone. Excellent work, John! And another dirty-dawg vet, Jason Runyen of New Braunfels, TX, finished in 4th place after a stellar blowout score of 283. Jason was also up 22 spots only to fall 3 points short of a bone. Nate McGinnis was another 3 points back in 5th place while Robert Tarr, playing from tomorrow in Perth, Western Australia was yet another 3 points back in 6th place. Melissa Harrall, Brandon Bigelbach, who led some of the year's contest, Jeff Raberding and Asam Michael round out the Top 10 for 2017. Great job folks. The PFCC is a marathon where just getting picks in on-time for 18 weeks is quite an accomplishment, but figuring out the NFL enough to end up in the Top 10 is very impressive! Congratulations on a game well played.

A couple of former champions ruled the Super Bowl Blowout this year. Our 2006 champion Mary Drobnik, from Albuquerque, New Mexico won the blowout with an impressive 299 points. And that's right, Mary had 12 on Philadelphia and 11 on New England. And yes, Mary is another dirty-dawg lady showing the dudes how it is done. Andrew Schmidt, the 2015 champion was the blowout runner-up with 290 points. Andrew also had 12 on Philly with 10 on New England. Andrew Tucci and, no kidding, Sam Lucci finished 3rd and 4th. Dan Luyk, who won the CFCC Bowl Blowout this year, flexed his PFCC muscle to wrap-up 5th place in the Super Bowl Blowout. Dan Noirot, John Sikora, John Leibold and our old friend Ray Sondag tied for 6th place with 284 points. Jason Runyen rounds out the Top 10.

On the Group Play front, we see first time winners, Hailraisers, taking home the championship with an average score of 1093.5 points. Hailraisers is a group open to Penn Staters, which is a departure from many past group winners which are hand-selected by their leaders specifically to compete in group play. Very impressive folks! Harvey Crusaders was the group runner-up with an average score of 1081.8, also very impressive since these folks dealt with Hurricane Harvey just before the season and with the aftermath once the season began. Traditional group powerhouse BoomerBacks finished 3rd, followed by our favorite 2017 PFCC group name, The Juice is Loose and We're Here to WOW Ya.

That's a wrap on the 2017 football season here at dirty-dawg.com, our 18th season on the Internet. If all goes well, we will be back in September 2018 for another shot at some entertainment for all of our loyal dirty-dawgers. And don't forget the College Basketball Confidence Contest coming up in March. Enjoy the off-season!
