Big Dance Down to Final 4, CBCC to Final 3by: Sugar (March 31, 2014)Wow! What a great tournament so far with several games doing down to the buzzer! And guess what? No one is going to win $1 Billion as predicted right here in this very column 15 days ago by your's truly. Nate Silver isn't the only statistical genius around. Ok, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the odds on a perfect bracket and proclaim, "It ain't gonna happen". Especially this year. But, if you are a dirty-dawger it doesn't matter because you still have points on the board. The bad news is that those points don't really matter unless your name is Robert Ricks, Mark Didrick or Bryan Tilley. Those are the 3 veteran dirty-dawgers still alive after the first 4 rounds of the CBCC. The Final Four is set with UConn, Florida, Kentucky and Wisconsin which leaves 8 possible scenarios for the 3 games left. And Robert Ricks from Abita Springs, LA holds 5 of those scenarios. Should UConn win their semi-final game, it will all be over and Robert Ricks will the champion. Robert also wins if Florida beats Kentucky in the National Championship game. Mark Didrick from Fort Wayne, IN owns the Florida/Wisconsin match-up, no matter the champion, for a 1 in 4 chance at dirty-dawg glory. However, there is a monkey in the wrench, with Oxford, Michigan's Bryan Tilley lurking way back in 30th place, 246 points behind the leader. Surely there is no way he could possibly win this thing right? Wrong, and don't call me Shirley!! Bryan is a dirty-dawg veteran and a crafty one, with 4 bones to his credit (3 CFCC, 1 PFCC). He has 63 on Florida and 64 on Kentucky, and if Kentucky beats Florida for the National Championship, Bryan will be the CBCC Champion from all the way back at 30th place. We'll pause now for you to do the math. There you have it. Robert Ricks has a 5 in 8 chance to reign as dirty-dawg Champion, while Mark Didrick has a 1 in 4 shot, and Bryan Tilley a 1 in 8 shot. The rest of you are jockeying for final standing position and will have to wait another year for admiration from your dirty-dawg brethren. We'll be back in another week or so to wrap up another glorious CBCC here at dirty-dawg.com. Enjoy the rest of the tournament! |
